The main event is coming into shape for the TNA Slammiversary PPV, and Nic Nemeth thinks it will be a box office attraction.
Nemeth holds the Call Your Shot trophy, which entitles him to a world title match upon demand. Nemeth has hovered over the world title picture since winning that prize at Bound For Glory in October last year. Now, the Most Wanted Man made a box office decision to bring big business to Slammiversary on June 28 in Boston, MA. Nemeth announced that he is cashing in his world title shot
for the PPV. He wants the spotlight to wrestle where the money is.
Nemeth’s opponent is uncertain at this moment. Mike Santana defends the TNA World Championship against Eric Young to air on this week’s episode of Impact on Thursday, June 11. The implication is that Nemeth will face the winner at Slammiversary.
Based on numbers from WrestleTix, it looks like TNA needs Nemeth’s box office appeal to help sell tickets. Let’s hope it pays off, because healthy sales numbers for all promotions is better for the professional wrestling industry.
The updated lineup for TNA Slammiversary includes:
- TNA World Championship: TBD (c) vs. Nic Nemeth
- Knockouts Championship: Lei Ying Lee (c) vs. Xia Brookside
- Ultimate X for the X-Division Championship: Cedric Alexander (c) vs. Leon Slater vs. more TBA
In addition, all TNA championships will be defended, and there will be a ladder match.
Looking at current storyline directions to predict more matches, TNA could have plans to add the Elegance Brand defending the Knockouts Tag Team Championship against Rosemary & Allie, Elijah versus AJ Francis, EC3 versus Eric Young, and Indi Hartwell versus Elayna Black.
KC Navarro is challenging Mustafa Ali for the TNA International Championship to air this week on Impact. That match could end in a result that demands a rematch at the PPV. If Ali wins without objection, a surprise opponent could be on tap to fit in the story of Ali defending against all comers from around the world.
Brian Myers & Bear Bronson hold the TNA World Tag Team Championship. The current tag team division is basically three teams deep with the System, the Hardys, and the Righteous. When TNA mentioned a ladder match for the PPV, the most common assumption was foreshadowing the Hardys in a tag title match. If the Hardys’ feud with the Righteous doesn’t wrap up before Slammiversary, then maybe it will be a three-way dance for the tag titles at the PPV.
