In a whirlwind of emotions, Bayern Munich toppled Borussia Dortmund 3-2 away to increase their lead over them to 11 points. A brace of goals from Harry Kane and a clutch Joshua Kimmich shot spared Bayern’s blushes in a match where they were uncharacteristically poor. With his brace, Kane has now set a new personal best.
According to OptaFranz (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia), the former Tottenham Hotspur striker has now scored 44 goals in 37 appearances this season, equaling his previous best
of 44 goals but doing it in eight fewer appearances. Kane now sits on 30 goals after 24 matches as he continues to hunt down Robert Lewandowski’s 41 goal record.
With 10 matches left in the Bundesliga, one can very well imagine Kane breaking the record that Lewy worked hard for. The last time Kane came that close was in his debut season in 2023/24, scoring 36 goals.
