The Kentucky Wildcats notched another big win over an inferior opponent Friday, and Wednesday looks to be more of the same. The Cats will take on the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles on Wednesday night at Rupp Arena. Game time is set for 7:00 PM ET on the SEC Network.
Mark Pope’s squad now sits at 4-2 on the season. Kentucky has dominated the weak squads on its schedule, including Nicholls State, Valparaiso, Eastern Illinois, and Loyola Maryland. However, they’ve been totally outclassed in the only two
games that matter—Louisville and Michigan State, which weren’t particularly close.
So, another blowout win against inferior competition isn’t going to appease anyone, but a solid effort will quiet the masses through the holiday.
Pope finally started Malachi Moreno over Brandon Garrison the last time out, which was a move in the right direction. However, BG still played a lot, and Otega Oweh once again looked less than stellar. Collin Chandler and Denzel Aberdeen continue to be the consistent forces on both ends. Kam Williams is also blossoming before our eyes.
As for Tennessee Tech, their record is 3-3, including wins over Virginia-Lynchburg, Berea, and USC Upstate, with losses to Western Kentucky. Charlotte, and West Georgia.
As was the case last time out, this game isn’t about the score. This game is about seeing something that will give fans hope for the rest of the season.
