Barcelona’s defence has come under scrutiny again this season, particularly following defeats to Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla.
The Catalans lost Inigo Martinez to Al-Nassr over the summer, and there’s
already been talk the club could try and bring in a left-footed center-back in the winter transfer window.
A new report from Mundo Deportivo says that Barcelona were offered defenders last summer but didn’t take up any proposals.
It’s claimed that Paris Saint-Germain star Lucas Beraldo was an option for Barca, but Hansi Flick and Deco turned the Brazilian down because the transfer “didn’t excite” the duo.
The talk is now that Barca could look for an option in the winter to try and firm up the backline. Bringing in a left-footer would also allow Pau Cubarsi to shift across and back into his preferred position.
However, Barcelona are also being linked with a move for in-demand Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi next summer. The England international is into the final year of his contract and able to talk to overseas clubs from January 1st.
