The fear that many of us had tonight turned into reality as the Kentucky Wildcats got demolished by the South Carolina Gamecocks.
After a strong start to the first half led by Seth McGowan, the game quickly
took a turn as the Cats turned the ball over three times in the second quarter, which led the Gamecocks to a 28-10 lead into the locker room.
If you decided not to head to bed early tonight and suffer through the second half, welcome to the club. In what we all hoped would be a half that shows some competence on offense, it was the exact opposite, as they couldn’t finish drives with touchdowns.
Once again tonight, Brad White and his defense allowed the Cats to hang around for a little bit, but the lack of offensive firepower cost the Cats a chance to make any noise.
Not to mention, coming out of the bye week has constantly been an issue for this program under Mark Stoops, and tonight was the ultimate example of that. They looked good early and then completely imploded, allowing South Carolina to race by them.
Any hope for this season now looks bleak as Georgia, Texas, and Tennessee are on deck. Let the fun begin.
MVP
We have to give this one to Seth McGowan.
He finished the night with 112 yards on 17 carries and a touchdown.
McGowan has proven to be one of the best backs in the SEC with his production so far this season. Unfortunately, it has been overshadowed by how poorly this team has performed so far this year in major moments. If the Cats have any hope of pulling off any kind of upset this year, it will be on the back of McGowan leading this offense.
