Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl has addressed his future at the club ahead of the Supervisory Board’s upcoming meeting on August 25. The quarterly meeting is to assess the window, evaluate its goals and how much the club achieved, but more importantly, Eberl will be in the spotlight.
Speaking in a recent interview, captured by @iMiaSanMia, Eberl took a pragmatic stance on potential contract extension talks. “Next week, the Supervisory Board will meet,” he explained when asked about
his status. “I’ve always said: ‘I’m doing my job. I’m trying to get FC Bayern to where FC Bayern sees itself.’ I’m trying to give FC Bayern the best possible support through my work and my expertise. And if the club is satisfied with that, then we’ll see what the Supervisory Board decides next week.”
Eberl’s current contract at Säbener Straße runs through June 2027, parallel to CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen’s deal. Despite intense media speculation earlier this summer regarding executive alignment, recent reports show that Eberl indeed has strong internal support from club leadership, after a busy transfer period that brought in key reinforcements like Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown. Honorary president Uli Hoeneß publicly voiced full backing for Eberl’s work, signaling that the presidential committee favours extending the sporting director’s term. The ultimate mandate, however, remains subject to the nine-member Supervisory Board’s formal vote next week.
Do you think the Supervisory Board should hand Max Eberl a long-term contract extension right now, or should Bayern wait until later in the season? Let us know in the comments!
