The Seattle Seahawks marched into Glendale and did what good teams do. They beat an inferior opponent by multiple scores; the match ended in a 31-7 caning of the Arizona Cardinals. The same Cards outfit that beat a Los Angeles Chargers team coming off of an 11-6 season last year.
The win sets a new high-water mark for the Seahawks as an organization. Their 12th consecutive win is (fittingly) a franchise record.
The accolades for the John Schneider-Mike Macdonald pairing keep pouring in.
The Hawks did
it behind a backup quarterback who was cast aside as a bust but started to look like a functional starter. That story sounds slightly familiar in Seattle, by now. That couldn’t stop this team from posting over double the total number of yards as the Cardinals in this contest (381-150).
The Seahawks were clearly unafraid to let Drew Lock sling the rock (235 passing yards, 3 TD’s) and resisted the tempting thought to go ultra-conservative on offense, sans Sam Darnold, and in possession of a lights out defense.
Let’s not take away from Lock, however… he entered Week 2 ranking 8th overall in QB Rating, after all!
When interviewed by ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt after Seattle’s Week 1 win against the New England Patriots, Drew Lock attested that, “It’s not run it back, it’s run it forward; this is a new team. It’s about finding out what the 2026 Seahawks are all about. if tonight has any indication of how tough and resilient this group is, it would be a really good sign.”
That good sign carried into Week 2 and will need to be stacked up and put on display again in Week 3 to extend the record. This team feels up to that task, whichever quarterback is leading the team.
