Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …
Defending champ Eagles now Super Bowl favorite, followed by Rams – ESPN The defending champion Philadelphia Eagles are now the favorite to pull off
a Super Bowl repeat. Following Sunday’s action in Week 11, the Eagles are now +500 after defeating the Detroit Lions, who are the fifth choice at +900. Sandwiched in between are the Los Angeles Rams (+550), Kansas City Chiefs (+800) and Buffalo Bills (+850). The Chiefs were the favorite entering the week but suffered a critical loss to the division rival Denver Broncos. The Rams were able to hold off the Seattle Seahawks to take over sole possession of first place in the NFC West, and Josh Allen put in an offensive showcase in the Buffalo Bills’ win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Eagles drama: Derrick Gunn says “a lot of people in that organization are frustrated with the quarterback situation right now” – BGN
“I’m just basically telling you there’s a lot of people in that organization that are frustrated with the quarterback situation right now. But the quarterback understands he has them over a barrel. This is almost Carson Wentz part two. They’re not going to eat this kind of money yet.“
Winning – Iggles Blitz
It does make me a bit nervous that Sirianni goes to the “We won” card so often. Maybe he feels he’s got to do that because Philly is such a wild media market. If he’s coaching the Jaguars he might be more transparent. Philly is a tough, demanding sports town. Sometimes winning isn’t enough. Did you do it the right way? I don’t think anyone expects Sirianni to let us know what is truly going on behind closed doors. Coaches are secretive by nature. Sirianni is ultra-secretive. Sometimes that seems silly, but that’s who he is and I guess it does work for him. While we don’t expect Sirianni to share all the secret sauce, he would help himself by being a bit more open.
Can the Eagles really keep winning with this putrid offense? – NBCSP
Ten games in, it no longer seems like an explosive offense that’s slumping. It just seems like a terrible offense. With this much talent? That can’t happen. Another win for the Eagles, another lackluster offensive performance. After managing 10 points, 294 yards and 13 first downs in Green Bay, the Eagles beat the Lions Sunday despite just 16 points, 272 yards and 16 first downs. This is only the third time in franchise history the Eagles have won back-to-back games scoring 16 or fewer points and only the second time since 1950 they’ve gone 2-0 scoring 26 or fewer combined points. How can you be this bad when you have Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert and a banged-up but star-studded offensive line? They’ve found a way.
Spadaro: Nakobe Dean’s return inspires the defense – PE.com
Think of it this way, say the players on the Eagles’ defense, the one that is coming off back-to-back dominating performances in victories over Green Bay and Detroit, following strong outings in wins against Minnesota and the New York Giants: Adding linebacker Nakobe Dean back to the lineup is like bringing a coach. One who almost knows what the offense is going to do before it happens, with the ability to strike like a cobra on the field. “He makes a difference because he’s always in the right place at the right time and he is going to get to the football,” said Reed Blankenship of Dean, who is in fine form having started the last three games – all Eagles wins – following a stint on the Physically Unable to Perform list while he recovered from a knee injury suffered in last year’s postseason. “He just makes plays. He’s a leader on this defense. We kind of go through him when he’s out there.”
Big Dom and Cooper DeJean Booed at WWE Raw in Madison Square Garden – Crossing Broad
WWE’s Monday Night Raw is at Madison Square Garden this week, with the highlight being John Cena’s “final RAW.” However, the bigger highlight is Big Dom and Cooper DeJean in attendance. And when they showed them on the big screen, they promptly got booed by the New York faithful after showing off their Super Bowl championship rings and title belt, respectively:
Lions’ Rock Ya-Sin on PI: A.J. Brown is an All-Pro, sometimes those players get the calls – PFT
“A.J. Brown, really good player, All-Pro player, sometimes those kinds of players get those kinds of calls. It is what it is. I’ve got to do a better job,” Ya-Sin said. Asked if the officials gave him an explanation of why he was penalized, Ya-Sin answered, “I didn’t ask for one. I let them do their job, I try to do my job. It is what it is.” It was a bad call and a call that cost the Lions a chance at a comeback in Philadelphia on Sunday night, but it’s a call Ya-Sin knows he can’t do anything about. And a call Ya-Sin knows comes with the territory of covering a star receiver.
Lions Week 11 snap counts: Heavy front deployed vs. Eagles rushing attack – Pride Of Detroit
The Lions entered this matchup with a game plan to lean on their big bodies to stop the run, gain advantages in short-yardage situations, and force Jalen Hurts into having to throw into tight windows. For the most part, things worked well. While they did allow the Eagles to pile up rushing yards, they had to do it at a slow pace, and Saquon Barkley was held to just 3.2 yards per carry. They stopped the Eagles’ Tush Push on five of the six times they ran it (two were false starts), as well as a third-and-one run from Barkley. Hurts only completed half his passes (14 of 28) for 135 yards and a passer rating of 63.8 for the game. In order to get three defensive tackles on the field at the same time, they deployed DJ Reader at the nose, rookie Tyleik Williams at the 3T, and Alim McNeill at the 4i. While having McNeill on the edge is very non-traditional, the Lions wanted to use the 4i to execute this game plan, and they opted to use McNeill in that role 44% of the time and Lacy just 26%. McNeill spent his remaining time inside, in more traditional sets.
Defense dominates as Cowboys cruise to 33-16 win over Raiders – Blogging The Boys
It was, by far, their most complete win of the year. Prescott returned to form, and the offense dominated with him, but the defense looked legitimately good. Granted, many defenses have looked great against the Raiders this year, but the level of improvement on display Monday night was about more than just facing a bad offense. Perhaps more than anything, though, it offered the defensive players hope. They’re not completely unsalvageable, and neither is the season. The hard part comes next, but getting the win here was the first step on a long journey, and they took care of business with a national television audience watching. That has to count for something.

Next Gen Stats Insight for Cowboys-Raiders (via NFL Pro): Playing his first game with the Cowboys, Quinnen Williams had a season-high five QB pressures on 28 pass rushes (17.9%) and earned 1.5 sacks.
Washington Commanders vs Denver Broncos game won’t get flexed from Sunday Night Football – Hogs Haven
The deadline to flex games for Week 13 is tomorrow, but a decision has reportedly already been made for Sunday Night Football. The Washington Commanders are slated to host the Denver Broncos on November 30th in primetime, and that game isn’t getting flexed out for another game according to the Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala. The Commanders have lost their last six games, while the Broncos have won their last eight games. Both teams are on their byes this week, and will show a national audience where they are for the last stretch of the season.
6 early candidates said to emerge for New York Giants head coaching job – Big Blue View
Everybody and their cousin can put together lists of candidates for the New York Giants full-time head-coaching job. When NFL insider Jay Glazer does it, though, it is time to pay attention. Glazer did exactly that during Sunday’s NFL pre-game show on FOX. He listed six names as early candidates, and said college coaches like Lane Kiffin of Ole Miss and Marcus Freeman of Notre Dame would not get consideration. Glazer’s list: Mike McCarthy, a Super Bowl-winner with the Green Bay Packers. Matt Nagy, former Chicago Bears coach and current offensive coordinator with the Kansas City Chiefs. Lou Anarumo, current defensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts. A former Giants assistant, Anarumo is a Staten Island native who interviewed for the job in 2022. Steve Spagnuolo, the two-time Giants defensive coordinator and former interim head coach. Arthur Smith, former Atlanta Falcons head coach and current Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator. Chris Shula, 39-year-old defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams. [BLG Note: Shula aside, this should be a pretty uninspiring list for Giants fans.]
NFL playoff picture: A new team tops the AFC standings – SB Nation
With their win over the Seattle Seahawks, the Los Angeles Rams moved into first place in the NFC West. That also bumped the Rams up to the No. 2 seed. But despite having the same record as the Eagles, the Rams sit at No. 2 thanks to Philadelphia’s win over Los Angeles earlier this season. Yes, a pair of blocked field goals late in that game are the difference right now.
