Prior to Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga-clinching 4-2 victory over VfB Stuttgart, head coach Vincent Kompany provided an interesting — and bizarre — factoid about Serge Gnabry’s recent injury
.Gnabry, who sustained a torn adductor that some reports say will keep him sidelined for three or four months, actually picked up the injury while practicing penalty kicks.
Vincent Kompany on Gnabry’s injury: “I think he injured himself while taking penalties [in training]. That was very, very unfortunate and surprised
us all. Serge has done a lot for us this season. Of course, it’s a pity for him and for us too. But we also have some other guys. I believe our squad is still strong,” Kompany told DAZN (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
This is really unfortunate for Gnabry, who was in the midst of a very good season for the Bavarians. Operating as an attacking midfielder, Gnabry really settled into the role and looked better operating centrally during this campaign than he did out wide as a winger in recent season.
Now, he just needs to get healthy as soon as he can.
