You have to be ecstatic if your an Air Force fan, following their 10-point victory over San Jose State. Not only did they avoid the post Army hangover, but the way they won this game should generate a lot
of optimism for the future. Coming into this game, I didn’t like the match-up against a very good air raid attack that the Spartans deploy. The Air Force secondary has been susceptible to the pass, to say the least all year long.
Not tonight though. This young defense did more than just hold up their end of the bargain. They forced three turnovers, leading this team to victory. They were the most significant factor in this win. And they did it against the top passing attack in the nation.
Just a week removed from turning the ball over three times, while unable to generate one of their own. Air Force flipped the script this week, picking off Walker Eget twice, forcing a fumble and collecting a safety. That is a lights out performance, point blank.
Liam Szarka continues to operate the offense at a high level. While Owen Allen seems to keep getting better with each game that passes. We said it before, and if you just stick with this team you will see why, there is so much reason for optimism in Colorado Springs. They can’t count on defensive gems like were delivered tonight, but if the defense keeps the improved play, while the offense holds serve, Air Force is going to be a hard out for anyone. Lets see if they can build on this weeks win on the left coast, as they head across the country about as far East as a team could travel, for a game against UConn next week.
The Uconn Huskies are coming off of a really good win in their own right, knocking of Duke enroute to their seventh win of the season. Jim Mora has done a phenomenal job with the Huskies, as evident by their record. The Falcons are going to need all three phases of their game to show up in East Hartford on Saturday.
