New York Giants safety Jevon Holland has been named the NFC Defensive Player of The Month for the month of September.
Holland has been simply fantastic through the first three games of the season. He’s notched 3 interceptions and 4 passes defensed, recording an interception in each of the first three games of the year, and his timely interception of He’s also only been targeted in coverage 8 times, and allowed just 2 receptions for a total of 59 yards and is allowing a passer rating of 57.8, by far
the best of his career.
His timely interception of Cam Ward sealed the Giants’ win over the Tennessee Titans.
Doug Farrar recently listed Holland as one of the NFL’s “Secret Superstars”, though I suspect the secret is out.
Some may view Holland’s play to start 2026 as a surprise, however there were indications in 2025 that he could be on the verge of a breakout campaign. While Holland’s box score stats weren’t impressive, his advanced metrics — notably his completion percentage allowed, yards per target allowed, passer rating allowed, and missed tackle rate — were all comparable to former Giant Xavier McKinny.
Also notable was that Holland wasn’t credited with a pair of interceptions (including a pick-6) that were negated by penalties elsewhere on the defense.
This year, Holland seems to have put it all together and is thriving in Dennard Wilson’s more aggressive defensive scheme.
Now, Holland is emerging as a key piece for the Giants’ defense and a true difference maker for the team. This was exactly what the Giants hoped for when they signed Holland away from the Miami Dolphins to a thre-year, $45.3 million contract prior to the 2025 season.
