Maryland baseball first baseman Ryan Costello was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
The redshirt freshman LSU transfer continues to pay off, as he went 7 for 16 with three home runs, six RBIs and six runs across four games in the week.
Costello has been Maryland’s premier source of firepower this season. He’s leading the
team with nine home runs and 27 RBIs — both figures are more than double the second place.
The Terps are on the road taking on No. 23 West Virginia for their midweek, then return to the Bob for their Big Ten opening series against Purdue.
