This time last year, we were really intrigued when Caleb Foster interviewed his teammates on the Brotherhood Podcast and asked them: who has surprised you the most?
To a man, they all said Kon Knueppel, and he proved them right with sterling play throughout the season, including winning ACC Tournament MVP.
Now he’s a Charlotte Hornet and he’s made an impression with his new teammates as well. Here’s what point guard LaMelo Ball had to say about the rook: “I’m not going lie. I’m going to go with the bounce.
For real. I didn’t know he could jump like that. He’s even caught a few little dunks. I’m like, ‘Hold up, I’ve seen ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ at the end and he’s been kind of jumping like that the whole day, though. Solid.”
He said this on Media Day and we also notice this: the Hornets had him pose with Ball and Brandon Miller, which illustrates the expectations they have of Knueppel.
We’ll see soon where exactly he stands, but the confidence his new team is showing is striking.
