The Coats have found a new coach as everyone moves up the ladder.
The Sixers announced that JP Clark has been named as the new coach for their G-League affiliate team, the Delaware Blue Coats. Clark has been an assistant for the Coats since 2021, before that he was a player development coach for the LA Clippers, as well as an assistant for both the Boston and Maine Celtics. Clark will be replacing Mike Longabardi in that role after he was promoted to a Sixers assistant coach earlier in the offseason.
This news was first reported a couple weeks back by Mike Scotto of hoopshype.com
As a part of a statement released by the team, Clark said, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to coach this team and work with the great people in this organization, I extend my sincere thanks to Daryl Morey, Nick Nurse, and Ariana Andonian for this tremendous opportunity and for their confidence in me. I look forward to building on the Blue Coats’ strong history of player development and winning to achieve even greater accomplishments together.”
In addition to this news, the Sixers have also announced that Clark will be hosting a free coaches clinic for local youth, high school, and college coaches at Chase Fieldhouse, the home of the Coats in Wilmington. That clinic will take place on Nov. 17 at 6:00 p.m. ET. The Blue Coats will start their regular season a few days earlier on the 8th against the Westchester Knicks.
