Joshua Kimmich is one of the most dedicated players to his craft. While Kimmich will not go down as the GOAT of football, he surely stands among the greats in terms of his mentality and work rate. The man truly wants to win every single match, and it is evident when you see him play. Now, Kimmich has his eyes set on the World Cup but still believes there is one thing holding this team back.
“I hope that everyone here wants to become world champion. But it won’t get us very far if we only want it.
We have to do something now to win games. That’s where we should start,” stated Kimmich, as captured by @iMiaSanMia.
It is an interesting wording by Kimmich here. Is he implying that not everyone on the team is fully dedicated or cares about the outcome of the tournament? Kimmich did make a comment about people wanting to pay for the national team a few months ago, so perhaps there is concern about some attitudes in the locker room for the captain.
It is hard to believe Julian Nagelsmann would pick lazy players so let’s assume that he has left those at home, Julian Brandt, for example. Kimmich has seen very little team success during his time with the national team and he is desperate for a title. Can he lead the squad to their first major title since 2014?
