What is the story about?

I was a bit of a nomad as a child. My dad had an affinity for keeping the family on the move. Part of that came with being renters, and my dad was rather vocal with landlords, which ultimately led to us having to pack up and move time and time again. From Phoenix to Sepulveda, Moorpark, Simi Valley, Canoga Park, and ultimately back to Phoenix, I spent many a first day of school in an unfamiliar environment, each bringing its own level of anxiety. It wasn’t until we moved back to Phoenix in 1995 that stability

finally took root, and I began progressing from grade to grade with the same classmates throughout middle school and high school.

But one thing never changed. That feeling you get when you walk into the building on the first day of school. It was something I grew to enjoy as I got older because I knew I would be surrounded by familiar faces. It was an opportunity to reconnect, hear about everyone’s summer, see what had changed, and discover what had stayed the same.

And tomorrow, I’ll experience that feeling all over again as I prepare to cover my fifth Phoenix Suns Media Day for Bright Side of the Sun.

I spend a lot of time with the people I’ll be sitting next to tomorrow. Throughout the season, we spend hours upon hours on media row, watching the team, analyzing rotations and schemes, and having some of my favorite conversations of the year. So I’m excited to see them again.

I’m equally excited to see the players, especially with the continuity this team brings into the upcoming season. As each of them steps up to the podium, we’ll have an opportunity to hear what they’ve been working on, how they’ve progressed, and what their expectations are for the year ahead.

I’ll be there alongside Brandon Duenas, so Bright Side of the Sun will be in the house with quality representation. And now I turn our annual question over to you, the community. What questions should we ask? What do you want answered? I can’t guarantee we’ll get to ask many of them, but it’s always interesting to hear what you think we should be asking this team.
