Good morning, baseball fans!
Last week, we talked about the fact that San Francisco is one of the first four cities to get a team for the new Women’s Professional Baseball League starting in 2026.
Over the
weekend, the draft order was drawn, and it was announced that San Francisco will get first pick! This is incredibly exciting news! San Francisco will be able to set the tone for their new franchise by having their pick of all available players.
Personally, I’m really hoping they pick either Mo’Ne Davis or Kelsie Whitmore, as I believe each could easily be a fantastic franchise star. But that is not to say that they are the only stars in the making, they are just the most well known going into the draft.
The draft is set to take place on November 20th, with six rounds in which each team will get five picks. The full order will be San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and then Boston. You can keep an eye on the WPBL website for more updates as we approach the draft.
