The Washington Mystics’ 2026 season is over. So, over the next few days, we will analyze how it went, what we liked, didn’t like and wish to see in 2027. In the meantime, here’s a poll I wrote in the Feed that I embedded below. Your job is to grade Washington’s 2026 season.
VOTE!
For me, the grade is an A. Why? The Mystics were projected to be a lottery team after spending a second straight offseason by not signing many players of significance. Howver, Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen became All-Stars
for the second year in a row, Shakira Austin emerged as Washington’s veteran star (and she’s just a fifth year player) this season, and the young supporting cast has shown that a lack of experience doesn’t mean that a team has to be at the bottom of the standings.
And for crying out loud, the Mystics were the No. 5 seed in the playoffs. It sucked to see them get swept by the Dream. But again, who thought the Mystics were going to be in the playoffs before the season? Not very many to say the least.
Congratulations to the Mystics for an excellent 2026 WNBA season. Let’s make 2027 an even better one.
