This offseason, the Detroit Lions have been preaching their focus on getting back to their true identity. Though they’ve been a little vague on exactly what that means, the message has been clear: 2025 was both not good enough and not who they are as a franchise. So they’ve changed up their offseason program, they altered their emphasis on roster construction, and they’ve fine tuned their strategies on both offense and defense—with a new coordinator and fresh mind for the former and some slight alterations
in Year 2 of this defense.
So as the Lions begin the 2026 season, hope is on the rise. Lions fans are beginning to believe again, and with that optimism brings high expectations.
Coach Dan Campbell isn’t one to hide from expectations. Rather, he leans into it.
Therefore, it’s no surprise that during the conclusion of Campbell’s appearance on the St. Brown Podcast—which you can, and should, watch in its entirety here—he really leaned into his belief that 2026 will be a great year. Amon-Ra St. Brown asked him straight up what message he had for Lions fans going into the season. I will leave the rest of the article to Dan to hype you up:
“We will be ready. We will be ready, and we will be a formidable foe for any opponent that gets ready to face us. It’s been an outstanding training camp. We’ve got weapons, and we’ve got an army on the o-line and d-line. So, we will be ready starting Week 1.”
