Barcelona president Joan Laporta is in confident mood ahead of tonight’s Champions League tie with Galatasaray and feels his club are playing the best football on the planet right now.
Hansi Flick’s side have opened up their 2026-27 campaign with nine straight victories, and Laporta says they are the team to beat on current form.
“Barça, with all due humility, is playing the best football in Europe and the world. There are other teams that are very good, like PSG or Bayern Munich, and they are also
contenders to win competitions,” he told reporters.
“Then again, there’s always the odd surprise, and we have to be ready, but in terms of quality football, we are the ones playing the best and putting on a show. We make sure that football fans and Barça supporters have a good time; we play a style of football that people love.”
Laporta also feels the key to the club’s success is the atmosphere in the dressing room and says the Catalans are feeling good ahead of the match against Gala.
“The atmosphere and team spirit are key to everything, and Flick and his team, and Deco and his team, have achieved this. The Deco-Flick combination is working, and there’s this atmosphere and this ambition, because whoever plays does very well, and those who haven’t played want to improve on whoever has,” he added.
“It’s a Champions League match, which is the best club competition in the world. We’re coming into this game in very good form: yesterday’s training session was very intense, they’re highly motivated, and we have a good feeling about it.”
