Bayern Munich did not have the best of nights against Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Travelling to take on Die Werkself on the 26th matchday, the Bavarians had a roller coaster of game to say the least. Towards the end, a 1-1 draw with only 9 men left on the pitch for Bayern is a result that would be begrudgingly acceptable. On the other hand, the Leverkusen camp aren’t too happy that they didn’t seal the game away despite having a two man advantage.
Ulreich saves the day
The Leverkusen side had seven shots on target. The only reason
they didn’t walk away with a win is due to one man. Sven Ulreich. It could have been 3-1, 4-1 or worse if not for the Bavarian reserve keeper. Ulreich made six saves and was a wall in front of goal. The Leverkusen goalkeeper Jans Blaswich, lamented the missed opportunity to bury a weakened Bayern side. “It’s tough to concede the goal the way we did. We had the chance to make it 2-0 just before with a man advantage”, said Blaswich (FC BAYERN).
Kasper Hjulmand marshalled Leverkusen to put up a brilliant fight. However, not being able to finish the game with a two man advantage shows poorly. Having said that, it was a great effort from Bayern to hold Leverkusen to a single goal despite their 2.78 xG.
