The Tennessee Volunteers rolled to victory on Saturday in Atlanta against Georgia Tech, defeating the Yellow Jackets 45-24.
However, that win did not come without a cost, as it turns out.
Josh Heupel addressed the media on Monday for his weekly press conference, and he advised that starting tight end Ethan Davis suffered an ACL injury and is out for the season.
“Obviously, Ethan Davis, ACL injury, will be gone for the remainder of the year,” Heupel said.
The injury appeared to come in the fourth quarter
with around 8:45 left in the game and Tennessee leading 31-17. DeSean Bishop took a handoff, and he was tackled by a Georgia Tech player, who fell on the back of Davis’ legs. Davis got up, motioned to the sideline, and jogged off the field. It did not appear to be anything visibly major at that moment (again, if that was when it happened), but it appears to have been the moment where his 2026 season unfortunately came to an end.
In his place, Tennessee likely will turn to sophomore DaSaahn Brame to step up to TE1. The 6-5, 240-pound sophomore has seen plenty of action in Tennessee’s 12 personnel as TE2, but despite being a long and athletic target, he hasn’t been involved much in Tennessee’s passing game in his first two years. so far in his career, he has just seven catches for 70 yards.
Tennessee will also have South Alabama transfer Trent Thomas and Luca Wolf in the rotation as well.
