The Pittsburgh Steelers will be on the clock one week from tonight, and they could go in a flurry of directions with the No. 21 pick. With needs at receiver and interior offensive line, the Steelers will have a large talent pool to choose from. Ahead of the draft, one of those potential selections sent out a letter to the entire NFL as to why they should draft him.
In an open letter posted on The Player’s Tribune, Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion tells all 32 NFL general managers they will never
regret drafting him.
“I’m the best receiver in this draft. Period,” Concepcion writes. “I run crisp routes. I catch everything thrown anywhere near me. I work my tail off every practice, every drill. I get in and out of my breaks fast. And I will outwork ANYBODY you put in front of me. So if you’re a GM out there reading this, put me on your team, and let’s get to work. You’re not going to regret calling my name. Never. And I mean never.”
Concepcion is one of the top receivers in this class and is largely expected to go in the first round. He led the SEC with nine receiving touchdowns on 61 catches.
While the Steelers added Michael Pittman Jr in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts, they have just four receivers on their roster. The two pass-catchers under Pittman and DK Metcalf are Roman Wilson, who has just 12 receptions in two seasons, and Ben Skowronek, whose presence is largely felt solely on special teams. Should Concepcion be available when the Steelers are on the clock, his name will likely be in the conversation to be the next Steelers wide receiver.
