Are your Georgia Bulldogs going on the road in the SEC against a top ten opponent while coming off a big rivalry win, the kind that fairly screams for a letdown? Then you could probably use a drinks. I can help you with that.
It’s easy to make a game against the Ole Miss Rebels all about quarterback Trinidad Chambliss..It’s doubly easy for bulldog fans, who not so long ago watched Chambliss bolt with both feet into the Heisman race with an unbelievable clutch performance against the Red and Black
in the Sugar Bowl.
But Chambliss’s brilliance masks the fact that this Ole Miss team is many more things than a vehicle for his creativity.Among the other things this Ole Miss team is? Bad against the run. The Rebels are 13th in the SEC in rushing defense, giving up a healthy 148.9 yards per game on the ground.
And the Rebels haven’t been great running the ball themselves, in part due to the injury to All-SEC tailback Kewan Lacey. I While the Black Bears rushed for a season-high 224 yards against Auburn last week,65 of those were Chambliss taking off. I think the Bulldogs’ path to victory here is pretty simple: run the ball and stop the run. Old-fashioned football. And what’s the drink for an old-fashioned game plan?
A Classic Old-Fashioned
* 2 ounces bourbon or rye whiskey
* 1/4 ounce simple syrup
* 2 dashes Angostura bitters
* Twist of orange peel for garnish.
Add the simple syrup and bitters to a rocks glass with ice, stir to combine. Add the bourbon or rye and stir until chilled. Garnish with orange peel. Enjoy. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to wrap up and tackle Chambliss when he takes off. And a little lane discipline when rushing the passer would be sweeter than 20 year Pappy Van Winkle. Just saying.
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
