What is the story about?
Good
morning, foLLks, and happy Thursday!
Today is the last day before the World Series kicks off, and Jacob Misiorowski has unsurprisingly been tabbed as the Brewers’ Game 1 starter in Milwaukee. Who do you think the Rays will counter with?
In Mariners news:
- Ken Rosenthal at The Athletic threw another name into the Mariners’ managerial search: Cubs farm director Jason Kanzler. ($) Kate also took a deeper look into Kanzler here on the site.
- Mitch Garver has officially retired after spending parts of ten seasons in the big leagues. By championship win probability added (cWPA), he is the author of the most pivotal sac fly in franchise history. So long, Garv man.
Around the league:
- The number of managerial vacancies in the AL West has increased to three, with the Angels announcing that they have parted ways with first-year skipper Kurt Suzuki. Anaheim will also move on from interim general manager John Mozeliak, and will hire his replacement before Suzuki’s.
- Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing underwent elbow surgery to repair a partial UCL tear. It is unlikely that he will be cleared to catch before the All-Star break, but should return to DH duties much sooner.
- The Ohio Casino Control Commission formally banned a bettor who allegedly called Major League Baseball and made violent threats towards Blue Jays manager John Schneider during last year’s World Series. The bettor is barred from all state gaming facilities and participating in Ohio’s legal betting market.
- Brian Cashman is sticking around as the Yankees’ GM.
