Earlier in the week, there was an influx of social media reactions from German national team players, who hit social media to apologize and also thank fans.
That did not end, as more players have picked up their phones to thumb out some thoughtful words.

I’m just empty right now and don’t feel like reaching out. But it is part of facing these situations as well. Together we planned to play a very successful World Cup, represent Germany with dignity and make a small contribution to positive
development in our country. And we failed. Once again. And that cracks me up.
So proud to be captain of this team and how special it was for me to lead them to the tournament, so much disappointment with how it went for us.
Giving up is never an option for me. Gonna take me more than a couple of days to recover, but I’m sure.
Thank you to everyone who believed in us and accompanied us. We would have loved to give back to all of you and to ourselves more.believeinyourself 👉🏽😮 🤹🏽 ♂️ @dfb_team

We all wanted more from this tournament, much more. That goes without saying for me too. Even days later, it’s still hard to think about anything else or even write these words.
We’ve seen how many fans have supported us. The backing in every single stadium was incredible.
Just as much back home and in so many other places around the world. Perhaps what hurts the most is letting you all down. Now we need to recharge our energy and learn from this disappointment.
Thank you so much for the support and encouragement, especially what I’ve received in the last few days.

I’m incredibly disappointed and saddened to hear that we’ve been eliminated from the tournament. I honestly still haven’t realized it correctly.
At the same time, I am extremely grateful and proud to have been there for my country at a World Cup for the first time!
The team, our country and all those who support football-Germany hoped for so much more.
Accepting that you gave everything to play a successful tournament and then it still wasn’t enough is the hardest thing right now.The shot penalty has already crossed my mind thousands of times and you try to somehow direct it to the goal in your thoughts.
But the reality is, the ball wasn’t in it. And that hurts.
But for sure, I would shoot again next time! With full conviction and confidence to make him in for Germany.
Didn’t work out this time but won’t stop me from trying again next time. We as a team keep going and I keep going no matter what! Thanks to everyone who cheered with us and supported us from start to finish!
🇩🇪❤️ God bless you

We disappointed ourselves. But even more, we disappointed all of you who stood behind us every step of the way.
Thank you for your support, in the stadium and back home. It hurts that we couldn’t give you more in return.
