The Jacksonville Jaguars have officially placed defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton (knee) and safety Eric Murray (elbow) on injured reserve.
Both injuries are season-ending, head coach Liam Coen said Monday.
“Disappointing for sure for both of those guys. Eric was on the first play of the game and D-Ham played 11 snaps when that occurred. Challenging for sure, but great opportunity for Matt Dickerson, obviously Arik Armstead, Ruke [Orhorhoro], [Albert] Regis, those guys are going to have to step up. Obviously,
we signed Austin Johnson today to the practice squad that was with us all year last year. And on a short week, we got to have those guys step up to play.”
“It’s going to be by committee. Those guys are all going to have to play meaningful snaps for us and help us stop a darn good run game and running back in Derrick Henry.”
There’s still a full week remaining until the NFL’s November 10 trade deadline. If the Jaguars are to bring in reinforcements, though, it’ll happen after they face the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football in Week 9.
In the meantime, the Jaguars will lean on the defensive tackles Coen named above, plus young safeties Rayuan Lane III and Jalen Huskey.
