The Yankees are a rollercoaster of a team, and they’re diving straight down again. After a week of picking themselves back up and beating up on lesser competition, propelling themselves back up in the Wild Card standings and putting some real pressure on the Blue Jays’ heels for the first time since dropping out of first place in the division, they faced both a challenge and opportunity in their archrivals coming into town for the weekend. They’ve failed — miserably. Three straight losses have them staring
down the barrel of a second four-game sweep to one of their main rivals this season, and an eight-game losing streak to the Sox in particular. The latest loss was an absolute drubbing, following an offensive power outage and another malfunction in the bullpen on Friday and Thursday respectively.
What will Sunday bring? Who can say, but it’ll be on display in primetime for those who care to watch. If you’re looking to get your Yankees fix without keeping your eyes peeled on their nonsense, then check out some of what we’ve got in store beforehand. Estevão starts us off with a look at how tonight is a true must-win game, despite there being a month left in the year, Andrew covers the Rivalry Roundup with a mixed-bag of positive results, Kevin gets into the latest 2000 Diary entry, Matt has some fun looking into the best Yankees pinch-hitter runs across history, and John has the weekly social media spotlight.
