The Los Angeles Rams are listing guard Steve Avila as DOUBTFUL to play against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, all but assuring that the offensive line will be down a starter for the second week in a row. Avila missed Week 2’s win over the Tennessee Titans and despite some speculation this week that the third-year left guard would return, he’s almost certainly not going to; doubtful players only suit up about 6% of the time.
This likely means that Justin Dedich will start for the second week in a row
and this matchup is going to come against All-Pro Jalen Carter at defensive tackle. That’s going to be a very tough matchup for Dedich over the first three quarters of the game, unless Carter does something to get ejected.
The news was somewhat better for defensive end Braden Fiske, as the team is only listing him as questionable with an oblique injury. Fiske was injured during warmups last week and only played 13 snaps. This injury may not prevent him from starting against the Eagles but it’s not looking good for Fiske as far as being able to play every snap. If he missed most of the game last week, is he ready for most of the game this week if he’s not practicing in full yet?
The Rams also listed Colby Parkinson as questionable. Backup Davis Allen has scored a touchdown in both games, although those are his only catches of the season so far. Will Terrance Ferguson get more opportunities if Parkinson is out? Fans can only hope.
Is Steve Avila becoming an injury prone problem yet?
