If you’re anything like me, you’re relatively bored with the Bloodline rehash, and whatever WWE is doing with GUNTHER right now in his chase of Cody Rhodes and the WWE championship. It’s not that it’s bad, necessarily, it just isn’t all that compelling. The best thing the company has done over the past couple months, the one thing that is truly compelling?
Two big meaty men throwing themselves at each other, of course.
Oba Femi’s rise has been a sight to behold, and the company got behind him enough
to put him over Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas last month. Lesnar even retired right after the match, something he went back on when he returned on Monday Night Raw recently to reignite his issue with Femi. He’s out for revenge, and the story they’re telling there is as simple as it is effective.
What I’ve been wondering is if they are going to go the traditional route — Oba gets one, Brock gets one back, and Femi takes the rubber match, maybe at SummerSlam in Minneapolis and that acts as Lesnar’s actual retirement. At least according to BetOnline, the second part of that equation looks likely. Indeed, the betting odds have Brock favored at -300 to Femi’s +200 when they square up at Clash in Italy this coming weekend.
I’m holding out some hope they will consider going the Cody Rhodes/Seth Rollins route and have Femi sweep a trilogy to give him the biggest rub possible as Lesnar heads off to his actual retirement. It’s not looking likely.
Elsewhere on the card, Roman Reigns (-500) and Rhea Ripley (-900) are big favorites to retain their titles while Sol Ruca (-350) is favored to win the Intercontinental championship from Becky Lynch.
