The Eagles are in Nashville this weekend to face the Titans in extremely hot conditions for their Week 2 matchup. There were a few unknowns heading into the game, including how the team would handle the offensive line after having to put Landon Dickerson on IR earlier in the week. Several different combinations had been considered, but Cameron Wolfe reported before the game that the Eagles planned to move Cam Jurgens over to left guard, and then put Drew Kendall in at center.
The team has confidence in Kendall, who had an impressive training camp and looked good during preseason games, but they also had Willie Lampkin as an option. It’s interesting that they would choose to move Jurgens to guard, who hasn’t played in that role since Jason Kelce retired after the 2023 season. Still, the coaches were impressed by Kendall’s understanding of protections and overall football IQ this offseason, which may have contributed to the decision.
Before making the trip to Nashville, the Eagles tried to hide their choice for up front and even had Fred Johnson taking snaps at left guard during the portion of practice available to the media. Everyone knew that was a bit of a smoke screen, and now we know why — it was more than just one change they were making.
