Lamine Yamal was back training with his Spain team-mates for the first time since arriving in the United States on Thursday.
The team were put through their paces by manager Luis de la Fuente as they prepare for their first game of the tournament against Cape Verde on Monday.
There’s been plenty of talk about whether Yamal will be fit and ready for the first game, but he is certainly closing in on a return to full fitness.
De la Fuente will have the “final say” on when Yamal plays his first competitive minutes since sustaining a hamstring injury that ended his season prematurely.
The suggestion is that he may get some minutes off the bench against Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia, with the aim of starting Spain’s final group game against Uruguay.
Yamal hasn’t featured in either of Spain’s two warm-up games but De la Fuente has said he’s confident he will be ready for the start of the tournament.
