5-star point guard Deron Rippey Jr. trimmed his final list down to five early on Monday afternoon. The 6-2 New Jersey native cut Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, and Syracuse from his list, so the
Wildcats are out of the running.
Rippey, who is the No.5 overall recruit per Rivals, will choose between Tennessee, NC State, Duke, Miami, and Texas. The Blair Academy standout has taken his five official visits to his final schools to get a close look at what will be the best fit for him.
Rippey and his father spoke with 247 Sports and said, “I don’t have a set commitment timeline, but definitely before the new year.”
With the possibility of the Wildcats being deep at the guard position in the 2026 season, this news shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to the BBN.
Mark Pope and the Cats are still awaiting their first commitment from the 2026 class.
