Ohio State is now 4-0 after getting back onto the football field following a week off. The Buckeyes earned an impressive victory over the Washington Huskies with a final score of 24-6 in what was the team’s
first road game of the season.
Ryan Day and his group are back in Columbus this weekend as the Buckeyes are set to play host to Minnesota. The game will be a 7:30 p.m. ET kick, and Buckeye Nation will be ready early for the game.
The fans will not be the only ones in attendance, as Ohio State is also looking to play host to a number of the nation’s top prospects for the game.
The Buckeyes are already adding names to their visitor list this week, as 2027 four-star offensive tackle Dewey Young (Kalamazoo, MI / Kalamazoo Central) announced Monday morning he would be visiting with Ohio State for the upcoming game.
Young has seen an uptick in his recruitment this fall and because of this, Ohio State is far from alone in its pursuit of him. He has made visits with Michigan, Michigan State, Kansas and Indiana already this season and Ohio State is now joining that group.
Young has not yet released a top schools list but if his visitor list is any indication, the previously mentioned schools all have to like where they sit in his recruitment. Young holds more than a dozen scholarship offers and outside of the schools he has or will visit, he holds offers from the likes of Auburn, Boston College, Colorado, Florida State, Iowa State, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Purdue, West Virginia and others.
Ohio State has not offered Young yet, and this weekend’s visit will be his first to Columbus, but that clearly doesn’t mean there isn’t mutual interest between the two. If the Buckeyes like what they see in Young and he leaves the visit impressed with the team’s performance and the atmosphere in Ohio Stadium, he could very easily earn an offer from the team following the visit.
If so, the Buckeyes would easily become legitimate contenders in his recruitment.
Young is the No. 19 OT in the 247Sports Composite and is the No. 192 national recruit. He is also the No. 3 recruit out of Michigan.
Ohio State makes the top 12 for 2027 OL
Ohio State received more good recruiting news late this weekend when 2027 three-star offensive lineman Jayden Dean (Fort Lauderdale, FL / St. Thomas Aquinas) announced a new top schools list. Holding more than 30 scholarship offers, Dean was able to narrow down his recruitment to 12 schools and Ohio State made the cut.
Alongside Ohio State, Dean also included Oklahoma, Oregon, Michigan, Florida State, Nebraska, Louisville, West Virginia, Mississippi State, South Florida, Kentucky and Syracuse in his top schools. Despite being only a three-star prospect, his impressive list of interested programs shows he has more potential than his star ranking may first suggest.
It is also likely he sees his stock gain significantly in the next round of recruiting rankings updates as he has the potential to be one of the top offensive line prospects in the class.
Ohio State offered Dean back in January of this year and he has not yet found his way to the Buckeyes campus for a visit. The weekend visit will be a great opportunity for Ohio State to show him what the University has to offer him and for him to experience the atmosphere of an Ohio State home game. If the visit goes well, looks for Ohio State to try and get him back on campus for another game this season.
Dean is the No. 40 IOL in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and he is the No. 682 national recruit. He is also the No. 76 recruit out of the talent-rich state of Florida.

Ohio State will likely continue to add to its visitor list for the Minnesota game this week, as the Buckeyes have had two weeks off from being able to host recruits. Another recruit to add their name to the list this weekend was 2029 linebacker prospect Austin Phillips (Kendallville, IN / East Noble).
