Following the obligatory ribbing from Duke and UNC fans, after Will Wade left NC State after just one season, and under shady circumstances, Blue Devils and Tar Heels fans mostly agreed with our Wolfpack brethren: that was pretty shabby behavior.
Well, karma may have pulled up at Baton Rouge: it’s the first week in August, and as of now, Wade has just four players officially listed on his roster. He doesn’t even have enough guys for a starting lineup, much less reserves.
Here’s his entire roster, according
to the LSU website:
- Divine Ugochukwu
- Abid Bashir, Jr.
- Austin Nunez
- Mouhamed Dioubate
Now, odds are he has recruited players who haven’t been listed on the LSU website for various reasons: some may be from overseas and waiting to be cleared. Some may be waiting to see how the various court cases are resolved. Some may even have been snagged by admissions, as unlikely as that seems at LSU.
Hey, you never know.
Our guess is that even if he only legitimately has four players on his roster, assuming that the recent decision about fifth-year seniors holds up, he’ll be the first in the buffet line. If not, he’ll be getting leftovers from the freshmen class. And he does have Rick $tansbury on staff, even if his old mojo isn’t there anymore.
Still, it’s fun to think that, after what he did to State, Wade may have really, unintentionally screwed himself.
