The New Orleans Saints returned to the loss column with a 25–19 defeat to the New England Patriots in Week 6 of the 2025 NFL season.
The breakout player from the Saints’ loss to the Patriots has been exceeding expectations each week—and he may have just delivered his best performance in Black and Gold: QB Spencer Rattler.

Rattler completed 20 of 26 passes for 227 yards with a 76.9% completion rate, adding 20 rushing yards on four attempts. The 25-year-old posted a team-high 93.2 overall grade against
the Patriots, including a 91.7 passing grade, per Pro Football Focus.
At one point in the first half, he completed 10 straight passes and recorded a season-high four “big-time throws”—defined by PFF as passes with exceptional placement and timing, typically delivered deep downfield or into tight windows.
The former fifth-round pick continues to develop in front of our eyes. Rattler showed excellent pocket awareness when faced with pressure, escaping while keeping his eyes downfield. His footwork was sharp, and his quick release definitely frustrated the Patriots’ defense.
His decision-making has also taken a clear step forward. On one key play, he scrambled on third down and could’ve easily taken off for the first, but instead found Alvin Kamara wide open for a significant gain. His growing confidence and mobility are forcing defenses to respect both his legs and his arm.
Spencer Rattler on the locker room atmosphere:
“We’re right there, playing against really good teams…We’re not happy about it…We know we’re a better team than our record shows. We’ve just got to find a way to finish these games.”
Spencer Rattler on what the Saints could have done better on Sunday:
“Could have been a little better on third Down. Could have finished in the red zone a little more. It didn’t feel like we played poorly….We were just a few plays away and have got to find a way to take advantage of the opportunities.”
