Recruiting:
Four-star 2027 Camden County WR Sean Green was on campus yesterday; he’s scheduled to be back on campus on June 5th for an official visit:
FSU is in a really good spot for the four-star slot receiver out of Georgia.
Football:
With Micahi Danzy, Deuce Robinson, and Jayvan Boogs missing time this spring; that has led to opportunities for other players to step up. And
in Mike Norvell’s own words consider Jasen Lopez and Devin Carter as stepping up:
“They are going to play,” Norvell said. “They’d have to regress from where they are right now. I’m not saying they’re the first line — but from what you see in a short period of time, they definitely belong.”
Lopez acclimating this quickly after spending most of the winter and early spring with the basketball team is an encouraging sign.
Greg McElroy spoke about FSU’s quarterback battle and culture shift for about four minutes 20 minutes into his podcast he spoke particularly about Ma’Khi Jones, the transfer from Duke:
They went out, they targeted players in the portal that have experience, some guys that have high character, things of that nature. to go out and get a Ma’Khi Jones from Duke who is being described internally as as one of the most important transfers that Florida State brought in, not just for his play, but just kind of for the locker room culture, the buy-in. Everything he does is intentional and it’s rubbing off on his teammates
Is it possible to see a culture shift this early? Not likely but attitude wise, sources in and outside the program have been pleased with how the new players and the returning players have prioritized the offseason.
CBSSports ranked the 10-most lethal wide receivers in College Football and Deuce came in at No.4:
Robinson could’ve named his price as a potential transfer in January, but decided on returning to the Seminoles after hearing from the NFL’s draft advisory committee on what he needed to improve as a senior. He’ll be spending that final campaign in Tallahassee after earning all-conference accolades following his 56-catch, 1,081-yard showing. At 6-foot-6, 230 pounds, the former five-star is a matchup nightmare and is a potential Day 1 selection in 2027 if fine-tuning his skill set comes up aces this fall. Robinson managed three 100-yard games over his final five starts as a junior, leading to buzz that he was leaning toward early draft entry.
No idea if this will stick but the NCAA imposing severe punishments for schools who sign players outside of the portal window could ease some of the craziness of the transfer portal.
All Sports:
It’s another top-ten ACC clash as this time the Seminoles hit Charlottesville to take on the 10th-ranked Virginia Cavaliers; Game 1 resulted in a 4-3 defeat. FSU struggled with RISP and the loss of Myles Bailey looms large until the rest of the bats step up.
Florida State enters the weekend having won three consecutive series (sweeping Wake Forest and taking series from NC State and Duke) in conference play. Per FSU Sports Info, Florida State is off to a 7-2 start or better in the ACC in back-to-back years for the first time since a five-year stretch from 2012-16.
Virginia enters the weekend with two ranked series wins under its belt already, having beaten then-No. 8 UNC and No. 24 Wake Forest over the last month, though are coming off a series loss at Boston College
Meanwhile 10th-ranked Softball will take its now 22-game winning streak into the weekend against Notre Dame for Players’ Weekend after a game 1 victory:
Happy Belated Birthday to Coach Loucks; a little relaxation before the craziness of the NCAA portal gets started:
Missy Odom is the prize of FSU’s 2026 Women’s Hoops recruiting class and she’ll playing in the Jordan Brand Classic; which annually features some of the top senior high school basketball players in the country:
