On Tuesday night, after a ridiculously long wait for a finish to a college basketball game, the college football playoff committee released its latest set of rankings.
STOP THE PRESSES… Notre Dame stays
at #9.
It was a mostly chalk week throughout the country, and even though Notre Dame won with an amazing score of 70-7 over Syracuse… it was still Syracuse.
The Irish stay at #9 — but with an interesting sidenote. This whole argument about the head to head between Miami and Notre Dame is pretty much dead. The committee spoke previously about how they weren’t even comparing the two because they were in different pods. This week — Miami and Notre Dame were in that same pod, and the Irish are still ranked 3 spots higher.
The decision has been made.
There are still a ton of different scenarios out there, but it feels like Notre Dame is locked into the playoff right now with a win over Stanford this week. As far as seeding goes, that remains to be seen. Notre Dame is, however, a team that many have labeled as “dangerous” in the bracket. Currently, FanDuel Sportsbook has the Irish down as having the sixth best odds to win the national championship as they sit at #9.
So let’s see what happens this week!
