The Pittsburgh Steelers got back on track with a huge win over the Indianapolis Colts, 34-22 in Week 5. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers tossed three touchdowns for the third consecutive game. Running back Jaylen Warren had a touchdown reception of 80 yards and a touchdown run of 50 yards in the contest. It was the third straight game in which the star back had recorded over 100 scrimmage yards.
Without further ado, it’s time for our weekly look around the internet to see where various media outlets place
the Steelers among the rest of the NFL in this week’s power rankings roundup.
FOX Sports: No.17 (No. 22 Last Week)
“The Steelers are the most Jekyll and Hyde team in the NFL, which is why I have been all over the Power Rankings map with them. They are on a win-one, lose-one pace. But more than that, they seem to alternate between looking awful and looking terrific. They were back to mostly terrific against the Colts on Sunday. Aaron Rodgers had the offense humming, and he got a big-time performance from underrated RB Jaylen Warren, too.” – Ralph Vacchiano
The Athletic: No.16 (No.20 last week)
“Even if this season hasn’t gone exactly as Aaron Rodgers imagined (at least based on the moments of frustration between him and Mike McCarthy), Rodgers continues to climb the record books. In an impressive win over the Colts, Rodgers surpassed Peyton Manning for the third-most all-time touchdown passes, including the playoffs (582).” – Chad Graff and Josh Kendall
CBS Sports: No.13 (No. 21 last week)
“At 3-2, the offense showed some life against the Colts. The running game with Jaylen Warren really led them to victory.” – Pete Prisco
Pro Football Talk: No.12 (No. 14 last week)
The Steelers are in a three way tie for 12th on the PFT NFL power rankings with the Browns and Bengals.
“They’re second in the list because they beat the Bengals.” – Mike Florio
NFL.com: No.22 (No.25 last week)
“Pittsburgh is becoming an every-other-week team, producing offensive explosions in odd-numbered weeks and struggling in even weeks. While that’s a path destined for a near-.500 record, perhaps Sunday’s output vs. Indianapolis was an example of a group recovering from a tough loss and applying the lessons learned. It was certainly encouraging to see the Steelers finally lean on Jaylen Warren. That’s a method that will produce consistent success, regardless of week number.” – Nick Shook
Yahoo! Sports: No.17 (No. 21 last week)
“Aaron Rodgers’ stat line isn’t perfect. His 59.8 completion percentage is the worst of his career as a starter. So is his 88.9 passer rating. But what he’s doing at his age has been approached only by Tom Brady.”
“Not counting Brady, whose production in his 40s is an extreme outlier, no quarterback in his age-43 season (Rodgers turns 43 in December) has ever had more than 952 passing yards or six touchdowns in a season. Their teams combined for two wins in their starts, and both were from Vinny Testaverde in 2007. Testaverde had a bad 65.8 passer rating that season. Rodgers already has 1,234 yards, 10 touchdowns and the Steelers have won three of his starts, more than every other quarterback at his age combined, other than Brady.”
“Whatever happens the rest of this season, Rodgers’ season is already historic for his age.” – Frank Schwab
USA Today: No.17 (No.19 last week)
“Maybe they need to rethink the timeshare approach with RB Jaylen Warren, who’s produced 490 yards from scrimmage on 61 touches over the past three weeks as the primary backfield option.” – Nate Davis
ESPN: No.20 (No. 20 last week)
“The Steelers’ secondary has been in flux since Joey Porter Jr. began the hold-in during training camp that ultimately ended with his trade to the Cowboys. As a result, the Steelers’ secondary has been plagued with inconsistent play and busted coverages. Porter’s absence and departure, coupled with Jamel Dean’s ankle injury, forced rookie Daylen Everette into more action. And Asante Samuel Jr. hasn’t replicated his training camp performance. At safety, starter DeShon Elliott unexpectedly began the season on IR while still recovering from his 2025 knee injury, and free agent acquisition Jaquan Brisker has underperformed. Rookie Robert Spears-Jennings has shown promise, but he’s still young” – Brooke Pryor
Most media outlets seem to be catching on to what many Steelers fans already know, that being they’re a very week-to-week team. It truly is anyone’s guess what version of the Steelers shows up on any given Sunday. Although the Colts clearly have issues, Pittsburgh was able to comfortably beat them while their offense continued to show signs of growth. Perhaps the Steelers can earn more trust from us and the rest of the internet with a road win over undrafted free agent quarterback Jalon Daniels and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weekend.
