Good morning, baseball fans!
Last week, I asked the McCovey Chronicles community what they were looking to see from the San Francisco Giants during their four-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. My sad, but realistic, request was that they at least manage to avoid getting swept.
And they did!
But that wasn’t the only highlight of the series (although it may have felt like it). In that win, Bryce Eldridge got his first MLB career hit, and it was a doozy. In the top of the first inning of Sunday’s
game, Eldridge came up to bat with bases loaded. While it wasn’t quite a grand slam, it wasn’t for lack of trying as he hit a double to the left field wall that former-Giant Michael Conforto struggled to field, which allowed all three runners to score.
Three runs score AND a Giant-turned-Dodger had to look slightly silly on the play attempt? You truly love to see it. Not bad for a first hit. Not bad at all. So let’s take another look at it while we wait for the Giants to continue their three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals later tonight.
