The Cincinnati Bengals are moving steadily through the process of filling out their practice squad. NFL teams can officially have 17 players on the practice squad (if one of them is part of the International Pathway Program), but most of them are just 16 men strong.
The Bengals have officially announced 11 members of their practice squad, but it is not hard to guess where one more might come from.
Here are the 11 that have been announced by the Bengals
- RB Kentrel Bullock
- QB Sean Clifford
- DT Howard Cross III
- DE Isaiah Foskey
- LB Joe Giles-Harris
- LB Shaka Heyward
- CB Bralyn Lux
- HB Kendall Milton
- WR Jordan Moore
- WR Noah Thomas
- S Russ Yeast
These are all players who spent time with the Bengals
during training camp. It also isn’t hard to imagine that the 12th one should also be.
See, Cincinnati claimed Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle, Myles Hinton. That means they had to release a player who made the initial 53-man roster. Well, the released tight end, Tanner Hudson.
It is safe to say he probably wants to return, as much as the Bengals would like to have him on their practice squad.
Otherwise, the players they have kept here are either players who have been here for a while, or guys who impressed in camp.
The Bengals can call up any of these guys to be activated on game day up to three times before they would have to officially make room for them on the 53-man roster.
Also, in the event of a player going onto injured reserve for any period of time, they can call these guys up. So it is not only a way to keep developing these guys in your building, but it is actually a vital part of roster building since the rules around it changed during the COVID season to allow veteran players on it beyond those who have only played for two seasons or less.
Given that Cincinnati has seen some of their more talented players they cut move on to other teams, these are probably the players they were looking to keep from their own guys before they went out and added from other teams.
We will see if they are able to land any interesting players that could possibly show up on a couple of Sundays.
