After a day off to travel the Fall Classic continues with Game 3 in Los Angeles where the Dodgers will host the Toronto Blue Jays. The series is tied 1-1 and historically the team that wins the Game 3 tends
to go on to win it all more often than not. Stakes are only getting higher from here on out.
The Blue Jays will be going with future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer tonight in what’ll be the 41-year-old’s 27th career postseason start (32nd appearance). Tonight he’ll also be making history as the first pitcher to start in the World Series for four separate teams. He was strong in his long postseason outing this season, pitching almost six full innings against the Seattle Mariners in the ALCS and allowing just two runs. The Jays would take that same line again in a heartbeat and rely on their bats to push them over the top.
Here’s how the Jays lineup looks for the first game in Los Angeles:
The Dodgers’ starting pitcher tonight will be veteran right-hander Tyler Glasnow. Now in his 10th major league season, Glasnow has plenty of postseason experience himself but has stepped it up for the Dodgers this October. In three games (two starts) Glasnow has allowed just one earned run in 13 1/3 innings. That’s following a regular season that saw Glasnow injured (again) but still as effective as ever when healthy. For most squads Glasnow would be the Game 1 starter but that just goes to show how deep the Dodgers’ starting pitching depth is. The 32-year-old pitched one game against these same Blue Jays earlier this season, pitching 5 2/3 innings of two-run ball back in mid-August.
Here’s the LA starting nine for tonight’s critical Game 3:
And don’t forget, Athletics outfielder Lawrence Butler will be on the broadcast tonight so don’t be surprised if you hear the young A’s outfielder on the TV.
So ya got taking tonight’s contest? Should be another good one!
