The Golden State Warriors begin a three-game road trip with Thursday night’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers. The game will be played at 4:00 PM PT in Philadelphia and can be watched on NBA TV and NBC Sports Bay Area.
Previously with the Warriors:
Golden State ended their five-game homestand with a 124–112 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday
night. The Warriors trailed by 19 at halftime, but a huge third quarter — where they outscored Oklahoma City 44–28 — helped them claw back into the game. Later, a Seth Curry three early in the fourth tied the game.
Despite strong outings from Curry (14 points), Pat Spencer (17 points), and Brandin Podziemski (17 points), the Warriors’ lack of offensive firepower showed down the stretch. Golden State had no answer for Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who finished with a game-high 38 points.
Regardless of the loss, Draymond Green hopes the rest of the team realizes they can compete with the best teams as long as the effort is there.
What to watch for tonight:
The Warriors will once again try to move back above .500 with tonight’s matchup in Philadelphia. However, road games have been a struggle thus far for Golden State, as they enter the night just 4–8 away from Chase Center.
Adding to the challenge is the uncertainty surrounding the team’s top stars. Jimmy Butler took a hard fall two games ago against the New Orleans Pelicans and, although he started against the Thunder, a knee injury kept him from returning for the second half. Meanwhile, Steph Curry has already been ruled out for the entire three-game trip.
The positive news is that De’Anthony Melton should be making his season debut after spending nearly a year recovering from a partially torn ACL.
