Get ready to learn about some quarterbacks this season.
In a new mock from Mike Renner of CBS Sports, the Cardinals were paired with Texas quarterback Arch Manning with the second-overall pick in his new 2027 mock draft.
Here’s what he had to say:
“Manning has serious work to do down the stretch this season to prove he’s worthy of this pick, which he’ll get as Texas looks like a playoff lock at this point. If the other choice is Carson Beck or Jacoby Brissett, though, I’m still taking the chance on Manning.
He has plays every week that show his high-end talent, but he’s yet to have a wire-to-wire dominant game.”
The Manning name is going to hold a lot of value from now until he’s drafted. To capitalize on that, Arch needs to have a phenomenal final season in Austin and show he’s not just the guy dominating lesser teams for three quarters before sitting the final 15 minutes. He needs to show he can hang toe-to-toe with other elite teams, especially during the College Football Playoff this year.
If he can do that, he’ll make himself a sure-fire top-five pick in this year’s draft.
