Welcome to the FC Bayern Campus Round Up, where the matches of Bayern Munich’s U-23 and U-19 squads are recapped, line ups are provided and the highlights to the matches are hyperlinked on top of their respective score line. The U-17s were eliminated from the knockout rounds last week, so their season is over and they will not reappear in a campus round up until the 2026/27 season. Remember, to watch highlights one needs to have established an account on the website but there is no need to spend
any money.
Information on the matches of the U-23 and U-19 teams is provided by the official FC Bayern website here and here, respectively. Bayern did not release info on the U-14, U-15 or U-16 matches for the weekend. If you wish to learn more about the format of the U-17 and U-19’s youth leagues and what is at stake, you can find more info here. Additionally, the U-23’s match cannot be watched without a paid subscription. The U-19’s match can be watched on the Sky Sports DE YouTube channel here, provided one has a VPN they can set to Germany. Without further ado, here is the round up:
FV Illertissen 4-0 Bayern II (U-23s), Matchday 32
Bayern lineup (with subs): Bärtl – Schuhbauer, Heindl, Puljić, Yanda – Rüger, Schmitz (70. Chemwor), Sadat – Darboe (46. Von Taube), Heinz, Scott (46. Hentcho Nseke).
Unused subs: Heilmair – Zöls, Schaff.
Goals: 1:0 Gerstmeyer (1.), 2:0 Embaye (58.), 3:0 Milic (71.), 4:0 Wegmann (77.)
Unavailable players: Tim Binder, Leon Klanac, Vincent Manuba, Steve Breitkreuz, Younes Aitamer, Louis Richter, David Santos Daiber, Artur Degraf, Maycon Cardozo, Guido Della Rovere, Deniz Ofli (in case of use for senior team)
Position: 10., 43 points
It is important to find the positives where they exist. Tim Binder and Leon Klanac, injured in the last days of 2025, are finally back in team training and could still get some minutes in the final two matches of the season. Furthermore, the elimination of the U-17s against Schalke last week was clearly a net negative, but the club sought to look for silver linings. Specifically, standout U-17 talents Philipp von Taube and Simon Schaff were called up to the U-23s for the first time, while von Taube even played the entire second half of this match.
But the positives quickly end there. Bayern traveled to 4th placed Illertissen having lost 3 of their last 4 games, still struggling with an enormous injury list that only grew with the injury of regular right back starter Manuba and hoping for a decent result. Instead, they got soundly trounced.
The game started terribly when back up right back Maximilian Schuhbauer horribly misjudged a pass back to the goalkeeper and allowed Gerstmeyer to steal in and score. It would force Bayern into the chasers and put the onus of creating chances on them, one which the team is simply not comfortable with. Instead, Illertissen continued to create the better chances on the break. It was somewhat fortunate that Bayern went into the break only one goal down. That luck would not last. In a 19 minute period in the second half, Illertissen overwhelmed the Bavarians and added to the scoreline until the scoreline reached 4-0.
There are two more games until the end of the season. The next will be on Friday, May 8, against Eichstätt. Perhaps some U-19 talents will also get the chance to make the U-23 debuts. Because their match did not go any better.
FC Köln U-19s 4-0 Bayern U-19s, Round of 16- ELIMINATED

Bayern lineup (with subs): Prescott – Moumouni (46. El-Chaar), Mijatović (55. Pavlić), Schäfer, Ajayi – Schmid, Lambe (46. Snip), Gashi (46. Egwuatu) – Olychenko, Codjo-Evora, Wilson (61. Matosevic).
Unused subs: Ruland – Hentcho Nseke.
Goals: 1:0 Schenten (32.), 2:0 Ponente Ramirez (44.), 3:0 Römers (54.) 4:0 Fürst (60.).
Unavailable players: Chivano Wijks, Wisdom Mike, Michel Ekodi, Cassiano Kiala, Chris Afanou
Position: Eliminated
We have a duo of 4-0 losses this week. To be fair, this was always going to be an uphill battle. FC Köln won the U-19 Bundesliga last season and invited Bayern to their home for this match. But the nature of the loss will be disappointing. The hosts certainly benefitted from some officiating calls- there was a real shout for a foul on Roko Mijatović for the second goal for having his toes trampled and the foul for the third goal from a free kick was quite soft- but it is difficult to argue that they did not deserve the victory. Bayern’s defending on the day was terrible. Leonard Prescott had to demonstrate quality time and time again but still had to pick the ball out of his net 4 times.
As with the U-23s, some U-17 players got their shot at playing a level up as right back El-Chaar and the younger Hentcho Nseke joined, the squad, with the former also playing the entire second half.
With this loss, the U-19s have been eliminated from the U-19s Bundesliga this season. They will not play another match until the 2026/27 season.
This will likely be the last Campus Round Up until the 2026/27 season.
