Bayern Munich’s Asp Jensen has gone from strength to strength in recent season, most recently enjoying a good season and helping loan club Grasshopper Zürich stay in the Swiss Super League. As a reward, Bayern have put him on the transfer list. With the seemingly imminent arrival of Ismael Saibari from PSV to add to other central attacking players like Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala, Asp Jensen might not have space in the first team and are letting him leave.
SS Lazio are the ones who are looking
to profit. The Serie A club have fallen on to hard times, receiving a transfer ban for the 2025 summer transfer window and forced to sell off important players such as Matteo Guendouzi for revenue. Previous manager Maurizio Sarri had been forced to work with his hands tied behind his back, but he was still eventually let go, replaced by the infamous Gennaro Gatuso. Gatuso now finds himself in a slightly better situation than Sarri, but they are still being held in the transfer market.
Lazio now need to hit a “net-zero” in the market- essentially, they can only spend what they earn from sales.
Perhaps that is why the far-right club’s offer for Asp Jensen, reported by Corriere dello Sport (and captured by @iMiaSanMia), is so low:
Lazio have submitted a €4m bid to Bayern for Jonathan Asp Jensen. Personal terms with the player have already been agreed (contract until 2030 with an option for another year). Negotiations between clubs are currently ongoing over a sell-on clause. Lazio want to keep Bayern’s resale percentage as low as possible. Bayern have yet to give the green light to the deal.
BFW Analysis
As with most academy graduate sales, Bayern are also likely attempting to add a buy back clause to the deal. Certainly, if Asp Jensen can shine for this downtrodden team in the Serie A, he could be worth bring back to Munich. But, on the other hand, the worry is that Asp Jensen could suffer from the general malaise at Lazio and struggle to shine.
