Oban Elliott is off UFC Perth.
The UFC announced Thursday that Elliott (12-3) has been forced to withdraw from Saturday’s event in Perth, Australia, due to illness. His bout with Jonathan Micallef (8-1)
has been cancelled.
The exact nature of Elliott’s illness is not yet known, but the 27-year-old Welshman now misses out on the chance to bounce back from his first UFC loss. After earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2023, Elliott rattled off three consecutive victories, including a third-round knockout of Bassil Hafez to kick off his 2025 campaign.
However, Elliott saw an eight-fight win streak snapped in June when he dropped a unanimous decision to SeokHyeon Ko.
Australia’s Micallef, 26, was aiming to impress in front of a home crowd and build on a successful octagon debut at UFC 312, where he outpointed Kevin Jousset. He now waits for the call on his next assignment.
UFC Perth proceeds with 13 bouts scheduled to take place at RAC Arena. Light heavyweight contenders Carlos Ulberg and Dominick Reyes face off in the main event.
