Harrison Smith has already said that this will, without question, be his final season with the Minnesota Vikings. On Sunday in the Vikings’ 16-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, he found his way into a very exclusive club as he made the game-clinching interception.
Smith’s interception of Daniel Jones to seal the Vikings’ win on Sunday afternoon was the 40th of his illustrious career. That made him just the third player in the history
of the National Football League with at least 40 career interceptions and 20 career quarterback sacks.
The other two players on that list are Charles Woodson and Ronde Barber. Both of those men have their busts displayed in Canton. One day, Harrison Smith will have his there as well.
Smith has spent his entire career in purple after the Vikings selected him with the 29th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. The only two players who have played more games in team history as a member of the Vikings are Jim Marshall and Mick Tingelhoff. He’s truly one of the greats in the history of the Vikings franchise, and it’s awesome to see him put his name beside two Hall of Famers in a club like this one.
Congratulations to Harrison Smith on making history this Sunday afternoon as part of this Minnesota Vikings victory!
