On Thursday, Maryland women’s basketball head coach Brenda Frese went out and landed a key prospect in the form of 6-foot-1 shooting guard Trinity Jones, who 247Sports’ composite rankings have as the seventh-best prospect in the class of 2026 — ahead of soon-to-be Terp Jordyn Jackson.
Jones was initially committed to Clemson, but she was granted a release from her National Letter of Intent on April
9. According to ESPN, the shooting guard picked Maryland over teams including Ohio State, LSU and UCLA.
During her senior year in Illinois, Jones averaged 28.5 points and 8.2 rebounds and was named a McDonald’s All-American — she scored 10 points for the West team in the game.
Five players have departed Maryland women’s basketball via the transfer portal this offseason, leaving Frese with two more spots to fill on her roster following Jones’ commitment.
