Tank Davis had a rough 2025 to say the least. In March of that year he fought to a majority draw against Lamont Roach Jr., a fight many felt should have gone Roach’s way due to a questionable call (more on that here). He was then lined up to face Jake Paul in one of the most bizarre pairings in recent memory, though that went up in smoke due to domestic violence lawsuit filed against Davis.
Months later, Tank was eventually stripped of his WBA Lightweight title after further legal issues surfaced,
leaving many to wonder if the hard-hitting pugilist would ever fight again. Now, it seems we may have an answer.
According to The Ring’s insider, Mike Coppinger, Tank is in advanced talks to take part in a rematch against Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz this summer at 140 pounds. The two initially met back in Dec. 2021, which saw Davis (31) earn a unanimous decision win over “Pitbull” in what proved to be one of the best fights of the year, and Cruz has been pining for a rematch which, it seems, may come to fruition soon.
Since that defeat, Cruz has amassed a 6-1-1 record, locking down wins over Rolando Romero and Yuriorkis Gamboa along the way. Ironically enough, he, too, fought to a majority draw against the aforementioned Lamont Roach Jr. in his last fight, just like Davis did. As for Tank, since taking down “Pitbull” he’s racked up big wins including back-to-back knockouts over Frank Martin and Ryan Garcia.
While the deal has yet to be finalized, fight fans will likely be hesitant to believe it will actually go down given Tank’s previous troubles. That said, should the bout take place do you see it going any different than the first time?
